Fight The Good Fight

Romans 13:11-14
New King James Version (NKJV)

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

The best commentary on The Word comes from The Word itself. Whether you want to cross reference different scriptures on the same subject or spiritual truth, or read several different translations of a scripture, The Word is always the best commentary of itself.

I found these variations of scripture to be anointed today. The first is a translation I have never read before.

I like it for these verses.

Ephesians 6:10-12
The Voice (VOICE)

Finally, brothers and sisters, draw your strength and might from God. Put on the full armor of God to protect yourselves from the devil and his evil schemes. We’re not waging war against enemies of flesh and blood alone. No, this fight is against tyrants, against authorities, against supernatural powers and demon princes that slither in the darkness of this world, and against wicked spiritual armies that lurk about in heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:10-12
Common English Bible (CEB)

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and his powerful strength. Put on God’s armor so that you can make a stand against the tricks of the devil. We aren’t fighting against human enemies but against rulers, authorities, forces of cosmic darkness, and spiritual powers of evil in the heavens

Ephesians 6:10-12
Amplified Bible (AMP)

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

1 Peter 5:8
The Voice (VOICE)

Most importantly, be disciplined and stay on guard. Your enemy the devil is prowling around outside like a roaring lion, just waiting and hoping for the chance to devour someone.

1 Peter 5:8
Common English Bible (CEB)

Be clearheaded. Keep alert. Your accuser, the devil, is on the prowl like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8
Amplified Bible (AMP)

Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

James 4:7
The Voice (VOICE)

So submit yourselves to the one true God and fight against the devil and his schemes. If you do, he will run away in failure.

James 4:7
Common English Bible (CEB)

Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.

James 4:7
Amplified Bible (AMP)

So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

Jeremiah 46:3-4
The Voice (VOICE)

Eternal One: Line up your shields, large and small.
March toward the battle!

Harness your horses; mount your stallions!

Get in position; put your helmets on!
Polish your spears; put on your armor!

Jeremiah 46:3-4
Common English Bible (CEB)

Grab your shields
and prepare for war!

Saddle the horses;
mount the stallions!

Take your positions
with helmets on!

Polish your spears;
put on your armor!

Jeremiah 46:3-4
Amplified Bible (AMP)

Put in order the buckler and shield, and advance for battle!

Harness the horses, and mount, you horsemen! Stand forth with your helmets! Polish the spears, put on the coats of mail!
