Close Off All Escape Routes

As we navigate this life we learn how to protect ourselves from discomfort and harm.
Some of these skills are healthy and good.
Others, however are not good for us, and will cause us to struggle
as we grow in life and with God.

The soul can master building layers of protection in order to avoid reliving
pain from our past, or to keep us from feeling the pain of our present.

This picture represents a soul that has been so hurt that it has built
a bear suit of protection against anyone who would try to get close.
Even though this type of unhealthy barrier is not the subject of this post,
I wanted to share it with you to really demonstrate how harmful unhealthy
barriers can be to our lives.

This post is about the external escape routes that we learn to build in order to escape
from the pain, uncertainty, loneliness and discomfort that life can bring us.

Throughout life, our soul masters the art of escape. Like Houdini , we train ourselves
to escape anything that makes us uncomfortable or that makes us feel like we are not in complete control.

This makes it very hard for us to learn to rest and trust in The Lord.
The Lord can bring us to a place that we need to wait and see His Salvation, but as
soon as that place becomes uncomfortable we find a way of escape.

The Lord longs for us to trust Him fully.
He often brings us to a place were we have the opportunity to do so,
just to have us abandon that place for the first Exit that is presented to us.

Depending on how many years we have been running from the pain, and how deep seeded
the reasons we have for running and hiding are, it can be long and difficulty process to
achieve the freedom The Lord paid all for us to have.

What is your escape route? What Emergency Exit do you look for as soon as you feel
frightened.

What escape hatch have to built into every situation that God brings you into, just in case He doesn't come through for you?

What everyone of these apparent safety doors have in common is that they are all mirages.
They may provide temporary comfort, temporary hope of reprieve, but they all
just ensure that you will stay a slave to the pain of the past.

Each time you choose to use an escape route instead of waiting upon The Lord,
your strengthen the chains of bondage that surround you. Are you ready to be truly free?
Are you ready to break the circle of bondage and slavery.

Are you ready to abandon all the escape routes your soul and the enemy have created
to keep you from achieving the amazing things The Lord created you to be?

It all starts with a quality decision to seek The Lord.
To seek your own soul and be honest with yourself and God.

Make a list of things that you think are your escape routes.
Do you see a pattern in your life of not waiting on God?
Make a list, make it clear, and determine to abandon every route,
hatch and exit you have used to escape in the past.

Determine to wait upon The Lord, no matter how uncomfortable
or abandon you feel.

You can do this.
Get into Church regularly.
Do life with other Christians.
Serve others.

God Bless

The World Needs The Father

The World Needs The Father

This picture speaks to me, it troubles me, it stirs me and God has placed it deep in my soul in order to step into a message, to enter into a prayer, to bring His Love to A Weeping Fatherless World!

As I look at the face of this little baby pressed against his young protectors chest, I feel his heart. It is like I am looking at myself. He is finding comfort in his brother. His brothers heart is seen, his love and eyes beyond his natural age. He has a look of concern and responsibility he should not yet have.

As I kept being led back to this picture by The Lord, I mourned in my heart for these little ones. I wanted to give comfort to them both. My heart drawing deeper into the image, my spirit groaning for what I saw and the condition of so many little ones, so many young ones,so many scared and hurting ones.

"Oh Father! They need you! Oh Father! So much pain, so much fear, so much lack. They need you Father."

I passed through a place of anger with The Lord. I challenged Him, I yelled at Him, I even spoke harshly to His character and goodness:

"Don't you bear the responsibility for all the pain! Don't you bear the blame for all the hurting one! Where are your Angels!"

I began to grow weary as I looked deeper into this picture. Then, I was stirred to rise up. I know who my Father is! I know He is Good and His Mercy endures forever. I know all the pain and hurt is from the evil one. The LORD is Good. He is Able! He is more than willing to heal and show Himself to a hurting and dying world.

He is a FATHER to The FATHERLESS.

Then The Lord began to stir in me His heart, and, He saw in this picture the same thing. He stirred in me His Will, and indeed, His Will is to show Himself Mighty,Loving and An Able Father!

And...........

He has paid a high price to do just that. He sent His ONLY SON, to do just that. Jesus accomplished everything that needed to be accomplished to bring MANY SONS AND DAUGHTERS to The FATHER!

Here is another picture, quite different than the one above. This picture is what The Wicked One wants for all of Gods Creation. This is Satan's goal, to bring such destitution and pain, that mankind has no hope, and no access to The Image of a Loving Father.

.

For many years I have fought what was deep in my heart. I have been troubled, even sickened by a Gospel that was not The Gospel of The Kingdom. (See The Missing Prayer of The Crestfallen Warrior) I know now without a doubt that it was all from My God. Jesus showed us The Father. He demonstrated to us and gave us all The Authority and Power we need to show them The Father, in His Name. Yet we have played games, like spoiled children with toys.

Jesus IS LORD over ALL THE EARTH!
We shall show them The Fathers Love!
We shall demonstrate The Good News Of The Kingdom!

What you see here is from The Kingdom of Darkness.
Stirred and brought on by Demonic Forces in High Places!

BUT JESUS STRIPPED THEM BARE!
MADE THEM CRIPPLED!
DESTROYED ALL THE POWER OF THE DEVIL!

I don't care if no one joins me.
I don't care if I am ridiculed and rejected!
My Father is Good!
My Father is Able!
The Lord SHALL CONFIRM MY WORDS
WITH ACCOMPANYING SIGNS AND WONDERS!

Bodies Healed!
DEAD RAISED!
RAIN FROM A CLEAR SKY
CROPS IN A BARREN FIELD!
ANGELIC PROTECTION!

HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF SALVATION'S!
THE GOSPEL OF HIS KINGDOM BEING PREACHED IN POWER AND DEMONSTRATIONS OF THE SPIRIT INTO ALL THE WORLD!

THEN THE END SHALL COME!!

My Advocate Is Praying For Me

1 John 2:1-2 New Living Translation (NLT)

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

My Advocate Is Praying For Me

Even as I walk, through the darkest path
My Advocate is praying for me!

He made the way for me, to stand before God,
My Advocate is praying for me!

He sees my pain and feels my hurt,
My Advocate is praying for me!

He conquered every enemy, arrayed against us,
My Advocate is praying for me!

He has given us His Name, to employ on earth,
My Advocate is praying for me!

He has given us Power, to tear down The Walls,
My Advocate is praying for me!

He shall show Himself Mighty in Glory and Love,
My Advocate is praying for me!

His Kingdom is about To Enlighten The Earth,
My Advocate is praying for me!

All who call upon His Name, Shall be Saved,
My Advocate is praying for Them!

A New Heaven and New Earth, shall Appear,
Jesus shall wipe away, every tear

Death and Pain, shall no longer be,
Fear and Evil shall be banished, for all Eternity!!!

My Advocate did this all For You and Me!
My Advocate is praying for me!!!!

No One Else Saw- But I Saw, I Saw

Psalm 34:15 (NKJV)

15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.

I stood on the edge of the pond
Watching and pondering the my two winged friends.
This is the second year I have watched them arrive
They stake out their land and run off the rest.

It seemed no one else saw,
But, I saw, I saw

I have watched them many times with
adoration and even envy.
Wishing I could speak to them, even be as them.

It seemed no one else saw,
But, I saw, I saw

This day though I stood with a troubled heart.
Momma once  again abandoned her nest.
The same momma and the same nest I watched  with anticipation
the year before.

It seemed no one else saw,
But, I saw, I saw

Once again her eggs left abandoned.
Once again my two winged friends had no babies following them along.

It seemed no one else saw,
But, I saw, I saw

It felt the weight of the atmosphere all around me
I sought in my spirit why I pondered so deeply this empty nest.
Why was my heart pouring out for my winged friends.

It seemed no one else cared, no one else saw
But, I saw, I saw.

---------------------------
---------------------------

Remember when your heart is broke.
Remember when all your efforts leave you barren
When you see the hearts of others produce
Yet your heart is left alone
When it seems no one cares or see
There is one that sees
And He says

Although it seems no one saw
I saw, I saw

Matthew 10:29-31 (NKJV)

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 6:25-34 (NKJV)

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

The Missing Prayer Of The Crestfallen Warrior Part 1 & 2

I am re-posting these that I wrote some time go in honor of this amazing Organization! Read poems then click on banner to learn more and donate!

The Missing Prayer Of The Crestfallen Warrior Part 1

As I looked at our brethren being tortured and killed
My heart grew weary, my soul would not be stilled

I struggled with my heart, and was angry with The Comfortable
How can we rest, while our brethren sufferings, are so horrible

I cried out to God, to give me a prayer, that was not being prayed
To wake up The Body, for the closing of days

Give me the prayer that the saints are missing
Because they are focused on things of man, while the things of God, they are dismissing.

I see a saint being crucified, in the streets
While a pastor dressed like a king, sleeps on gold threaded sheets

I see churches burned down, and poor pastors martyred
While a preacher is broadcasting from his mansion, saying how much he has suffered

So.....
I cried out to God, to give me a prayer, that was not being prayed

To wake up The Body, for the closing of days

Give me the prayer that the saints are missing
Because they are focused on things of man, while the things of God, they are dismissing.

I see a family being burned alive
While a millionaire "prophet" offers a prophecy for 19.95

I see a child weeping in pain
While a minister, orders his servants to remove a carpet stain

So....
I cried out to God, to give me a prayer, that was not being prayed
To wake up The Body, for the closing of days

Give me the prayer that the saints are missing
Because they are focused on things of man, while the things of God, they are dismissing.....

The Missing Prayer Of The Crestfallen Warrior Part 2

So I sought The Lord with all my heart
For the answer to the questions that tore me apart.

I cried out to Him for The Missing Prayer
I stirred the deep wells, seeking what to declare.

I saw the goods works, done by His Body
I saw the singers, giving Him Glory.

I saw the hungry being fed
I saw the needs of many being met

I saw the Good Works, of A Loving Family
I saw the freedom of those caught in slavery.

So why was my spirit man still not at peace?
Why did I not sense any release?

Why was my heart still searching ,still longing?
To see something on earth, that we must be missing.

Then the answer came, as I pondered my question.
The Answer came, as The Lord gave Revelation.

John The Baptist asked Our Lord
Are You The One! The Living Word

That questions answer would shake the ground
Seemingly innocent, but deeply profound

Are you the One, or should we look for Another!
The Answer made the demons Shudder!

“Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

Do you see The Answer?
Do you see The Prayer?

Do you see what is missing?
Jesus Made it plain!

I will Continue To Pray!
To Stir The Latter Rain!!

Treasure: Follow the map of Encouragement,Pictures and Scripture

Warriors for Christ must reach into The Treasure The Lord put in us during times we feel:

Vulnerable
Afraid or Angry
Unworthy or Unwanted
Lonely or Lustful
Threatened or Tired

His treasure is deposited in these earthen vessels. Each one of us has a VAULT in us that is full of all we need or desire. Everything pertaining to life and godliness is in it. These are great treasures from
The Lord of All Creation. We partake in His Divine Nature by receiving and employing His Great and Precious Promises on Earth as they are in Heaven.

We must forsake the flesh and the pulls of this body we live in and dig in fully to the things of the spirit in us. Walk in The Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

How many times have we yielded to the easy surface emotions and responses that either helped little or made things worse, when God Himself has equipped us with Mighty Tools and Weapons to be sufficient in every circumstance.

Jesus was all sufficient, He was fully equipped to meet every challenge, every needs and every attack against who He was. He overcame, and put in us those same treasures, so that we may overcome to.

2 Corinthians 4:7-10 (NLT)

7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

Ephesians 3:8-10 (NLT)

8 Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ. 9 I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning.

10 God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NKJV)

20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Ephesians 1:13-14  (NKJV)

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[a] is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Matthew 27:50-54 (NKJV)

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

Luke 24:49  (NKJV)

49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

Acts 1:4-8 (NKJV)

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2 (NKJV)

Coming of the Holy Spirit

2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Crowd’s Response

5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”

13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

Peter’s Sermon

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.’

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For David says concerning Him:

‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face,
For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad;
Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’

29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

34 “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself:

‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
35 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”’
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

A Vital Church Grows

40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Mission-Demonstration-Commission-Witness

Luke 4:16-21 (NKJV)

16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Matthew 4:24 (NKJV)

24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.

Matthew 14:14-21 (NKJV)

14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Matthew 11:1-6 (NKJV)

Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.
And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

Mark 5:1-17 (NKJV)

A Demon-Possessed Man Healed

5 Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.2 And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him,not even with chains, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.

6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. 7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”

8 For He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!” 9 Then He asked him, “What is your
name?”And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 Also he begged
Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.

11 Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains. 12 So all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.” 13 And at once Jesus[cgave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea.

14 So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened. 15 Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. 16 And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. 17 Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region.

John 11:38-44 (NKJV)

38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.[a] And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”

44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Mark 1:32-34 (NKJV)

32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

Luke 9:1 (NKJV)

9 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

Mark 16:14-20 (NKJV)

The Great Commission

14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Christ Ascends to God’s Right Hand

19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Acts 10:34-38 (NKJV)

34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all— 37 that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Acts 2 (NKJV)

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[a] in one place.

9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;

26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad;
Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’

29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,[e] 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.

Acts 5:12-16 (NKJV)

Continuing Power in the Church

12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. 13 Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. 14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, 15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. 16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

1 Thessalonians 1:2-5  (NKJV)

2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, 3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, 4 knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God. 5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

For Christians in Syria and other Middle East nations, human logic is clear: get out! Go someplace safe! In spite of such advice, Tom and JoAnn Doyle tell us many Christians are choosing to STAY and serve the Lord and witness for Christ.

These bold brothers and sisters are standing in the fire of war and persecution, and they are finding—just as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did—that God is standing with them. Listen to the story of Jamila, a 12-year-old girl healed from cancer after a Christian man prayed for her in Jesus’ name, leading to hundreds of Druze people coming to faith in Christ. That’s just one of the stories in Tom Doyle’s new book, Standing in the Fire.

You’ll be encouraged as you hear what God is doing in the Middle East, and challenged as Tom and JoAnn give insights into how we, Christians in free nations, can emulate the lessons offered by our brothers and sisters standing in the fire.
